Learning about the ecological diversity of the tribal lands of the Te Whanau-A-Apanui during a Ngahere Hikoi (forest hike). Community members showed us medicines and uses for plants as well as how to enjoy the forest while also preserving it.

Dorene Bernard is a traditional Mi’kmaq #Grassroots grandmother, #waterprotector, water walker and #activist. She currently provides leadership and spiritual guidance in coordinating the Mi’kmaki resistance of the Alton Gas Storage project.
