I agree with you that her blowing the $1M is more likely to happen, in which case her taking $1K/week might be better for her based on her discipline. I was simply speaking about what would be optimal.

If the worst should happen and she passes away within the next 20 years, then she won't even get a full million. Whereas, if she chose to take it all/invest, and the worst should happen, at least she got both.

@ancap_steve @FreedomMemesIRL I think you're misunderstanding the options. First, yes, you get $1K/week for life. And yes, if you live 20+ years, you end up with over $1M. On the other hand, however, you can immediately get the $1M, then buy your dividend stocks to STILL get $1K/week, PLUS so much extra money
