The first article from my dissertation, "Peer-focused prison reentry programs: Which peer characteristics matter most," was published today by @IncarcerationJ. Having an article come out on your first day as an assistant professor is hard to beat! https://t.co/oe4l6sMuJq
This is how people in prison should be referred to. In my experience, in the United States, most corrections agencies would rather do anything than use language like, ‘the men in our care.’ Prisons do have a responsibility to provide care, not just incapacitate. Language matters.
In HMP Barlinnie, 3 dads donned their elf costumes and shared an xmas story they wrote with all the visiting children.
Santa stopped by with presents, huge thanks to all who donated & 10 refurbished bikes were delivered to children of men in our care thanks to Ebike Freedom CIC
Sadly, after 40+ years, Dr. Frank Cullen was FIRED simply to save UC money. In just the past 8 years, he published 148 articles + 7 books, received 34,383 citations, won ASC’s Mentor Award, got $595,567 in grants, advised 13 dissertations, and received high teaching evaluations.
@JustinTPickett Absolute travesty. I never teach a class or write an article that Dr. Cullen isn’t cited in. In addition to being an amazing scholar, he is also a kind mentor who was supportive of my work and never failed to extend an offer to provide additional feedback.
What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!
Outrage over the hiring of neoliberal economist and police apologist Jennifer Doleac to run criminal justice policy at Arnold Ventures is growing. My letter is in the thread.

If you are outraged that Elizabeth Holmes has a small child and is pregnant and is going to jail, ask yourself: Who do you think populates women’s prisons?
