Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were one of Hollywood's biggest young couples in the late '90s and early 2000s.

They met at Reese's 21st birthday party in 1997, got married in 1999, and starred together in Cruel Intentions.

What makes their story so interesting is that their on-screen chemistry wasn't just acting they were a real couple at the time too. Looking back at these photos now almost feels like a little time capsule of that era.

They later had two children before separating in 2006 and officially divorcing in 2008.

Still one of the most memorable Hollywood couples of that generation.
