I apologise unreservedly to Heather Reid for the comments I just made on Twitter for implying Heather Reid was “one of the boys” and involved in inappropriate conduct with an official.
I’m not going to say the FFA want WSW to win the competition this season, but in the two games I have officiated in at Wanderland, my VAR buddies and I have helped further the FFA’s hidden agenda.
I’m a little hungover this morning after last night’s celebration with the boys following the #WSWvSYD match. When I say the boys, I obviously mean the board of the FFA.
Perth Glory 1 v Brisbane Roar FC 1
Robbie Fowler returned to Perth in a game that could have gone either way with Robbie’s men snatching a late draw. Some say it was a successful return to Perth for Robbie, but others would say anything less than a win, is a loss. Rating 7.5/10.
Wellington Phoenix 0 v Western United 1
A successful away trip for WU. Mark Rudan and Andrew Durante sticking it up the jumpers of their former club. The Nix, led by Ufuk Talay were unlucky to not score, almost as unlucky as being named Ufuk. What the Ufuk? Rating 7/10.
Western Sydney Wanderers FC 2 v Central Coast Mariners 1
Even game, even more even when I didn’t send off anyone from WSW for studs up tackles but that’s how I roll. Handball when ball is moving away from goals with no opponent contesting the ball, is still handball. Rating 6/10.
Adelaide United 2 v Sydney FC 3
Good game. Two evenly matched teams. Can’t help but feel AU got a taste of their own medicine after beating Central Coast in similar circumstances in the FFA Cup. Rating 8/10.
Since I couldn’t live-tweet the first week of the 19-20 A-League, the following tweets will sum up each game from my perspective, in 280 characters or less.
Thank you, @refmattbreeze. I will do my best to use your teachings to uphold the rules and regulations of the FFA, which we all know, the bigger the club the more "luck" 😉you will have. #GameOn
After years of being dormant, I have decided to hand this account over to my good mate and mentee, referee Alireza Faghani. He may say he's not worthy but, he will rise from the ranks and use the power of the whistle to dish out injustice as I did before him. Good luck, sir.
