Phoebe and Hauwa had their very first visiting Sunday in school. We were there to find out how they were getting along. They seem to be doing just fine! The first picture was captured when they were discussing boarding house life and their school work.
The second one pictures them showing off their nightwears to Hauwa’s mother. It was heart-warming to hear their excited voices and see for ourselves how well they are adjusting.
Hauwa and Phoebe again! This time, they could barely contain their excitement. Yesterday was their first day in a new school with boarding facilities. We can't wait to post another picture of them in six or seven years.
This Saturday, Refuge Foundation was in Tafa LGA in Niger State doing what we do best. Our Kits4kids project happened in Bawa Bwari Central Primary School. The kids were super-excited with bags and stationery they received. Some also got gently used clothes and shoes.
Our annual kits4kids project will be in Niger State this year. Watch out for more details. If you would like to contribute to get school materials for our IDP kids, please contact us via:

Ebees Green has quietly and consistently supported the Refuge Foundation mission over the years. John, one of our IDP youths is the most recent benefactor of their generosity. Ebees Green offered him a job! Not only a job, but a job with accommodation and feeding inclusive.
He also gets some time off during work hours to receive lessons from his tutor—as he is determined to pursue formal education too. We used to know John as a moody, withdrawn young man. These days he smiles a lot, and is interested in motivating his younger siblings to do better.
If you do not know or have never met any displaced person, reading may bring their plight closer to you. These days, there is more literature available for folks to read. You may not have money, time or skills to offer, but you can be an advocate in your own small circle.
Remember Sarah and Tijani, our apprentices learning tailoring under Mr. Ahmed's tutelage in the Malaysian Gardens, Abuja? Mr. Ahmed couldn't help but sing their praises. They have exceeded his expectations, and even though their 12months —
— training period is officially over, they have shown no signs of slowing down. There are other young persons like them whose lives could be changed instantly just by learning a skill. Won't you help us to help them?
You can join us too in making a difference in the lives of the displaced.

They say a picture says a thousand words! Does it really? There's no way in the world Esther's calm demeanour can reveal the roller coaster ride of anxiety, hope, confusion, expectation,
— and finally, insane joy, we all experienced in the pursuit of her goal. She always wanted to go to university. This is day 1 on campus....no, scratch that, this is day 1 on the verge of greatness. Congratulations Esther 🎉
Hooray!!!! It was in July 2022 that the mission and vision of Refuge Foundation finally came together. Our first project was on the 3rd of September at Ibeju-Lekki. Since then, we have laboured, struggled, been overwhelmed - and thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of serving.
We do not pray for the displacement crisis to continue. No way! But as long as it stays, Refuge Foundation will keep its promise of being a safe space for the displaced. Won't you please join us?
