We are educators, parents, students, and human beings who refuse to return to campus until our counties report no new cases for at least 14 days. Help us hit 15,000 signatures: https://t.co/h3prbnmduB
My doctor called earlier and confirmed what I already suspected. My 7 year old has Covid. She started school last Wednesday. Now there are 7 other kids in her class, alone, that have Covid. I'm so angry, I'm shaking. If they just offered virtual, she would be fine right now.
At the current rate, every single student attending school on campus in the United States will be directly exposed to COVID within weeks, if not days, of classes resuming.
And as a direct result, my kiddo, who I’ve managed to keep from coming into contact with a known COVID+ person for 18 long months, was exposed within only 3 days of starting school. THREE DAYS.
We’re still masking; we never stopped. My kids are great about wearing their masks. 8/
JUST IN: Nearly 72,000 children in the U.S. tested positive for COVID-19 last week—a massive jump from the approximately 39,000 cases among kids one week earlier. https://t.co/R4pSvFUoIx
Catastrophe in the making in Israel. They missed the opportunity to achieve elimination before Delta, when they had less than 1 case per million. Now exponential growth to over 2000 cases per day, over 200 per million and growing fast.

Contrary to what some people claim, schools amplify transmission.
Children get infected just as often as adults, and transmit at similar rates. About 7% of children who get infected will develop long COVID.
The UK has had to open 15 long COVID clinics for children.

I will say it again; the media has actively worked to turn a pandemic that exposed the cruelty of the American system and how it will continously fuck over anyone but the rich and made it about missing having mimosas with your stupid ass liberal friends.
The NYC mayoral candidate who thought that homes in Brooklyn cost $550k thinks that teachers can teach 300-400 students in a class.
Get this man away from numbers.
The only thing surprising about the CDC's report about Covid in adolescents is that it took so long to come out. We've been seeing and reporting on this.
How long will it take for the report on the rise in cases among 5-12 year olds?
Latest ONS infection survey is just out.
It shows significant rises in prevalence in school age children (particularly secondary school) and concerningly in 35-49s who might make up the majority of their parents.
We really should do more to mitigate spread in schools.
Myth:
High infection rates in children don't matter because they don't translate to more hospitalisations because - children don't transmit + vaccination.
Fact:
Rapid spread from school age grps into community & exponential rise in hospitalisations in Bolton in line with cases
