All DNA was not created equal! That said, having good genes has nothing to do with melanin.

This is the Othawa male of the Mhangeni pride in Sabi Sands, South Africa. To most people the death of this lion (died, probably protecting his territory or fighting another male trying to take over his pride), is meaningless. However, he was a magnificent lion (think gene pool).
