New Normal Curves podcast episode! "HPV Vaccine: How close are we to wiping out cervical cancer?"
Great statistics lesson on disease modeling predictions with microsimulations, plus much more!
Is alcohol really good for your heart?
@ReginaNuzzo and I discuss this question in our latest episode of Normal Curves. https://t.co/KIXDCCv9io Stats topics include: regression, residual confounding, multiple testing, outcome switching, and Mendelian randomization
My new podcast, Normal Curves, is out! @ReginaNuzzo and I discuss scientific studies and statistics with humor, clarity, and a dash of PG-13 content. Think journal club, but less jargon and more fun! https://t.co/6KbkZWfwBx #Statistics#ScienceCommunication#StatisticalSleuthing
@BlakeBortlesUCF@MatthewCappucci This thread ! Communicating ≠ Lecturing. Reach people where they are. We CAN and SHOULD do this.
Good to meet you, @MatthewCappucci! I'm a huge fan of @capitalweather & feature you often in my talks on how to communicate quantitative information! eg: https://t.co/3KnnfJwJCL
@MathTechCoach @ThisisStats Define "correct" 😀
A correct analysis, or an ultimately correct prediction?
You can be wrong for the right reasons or right for the wrong reasons . . .
@jackiepeiser Great story! I think the hospitalization & ICU numbers might be inflated by a factor of about 15, though. I calculate 45 covid hosp per 100k * 6.83 million people in TN = ~3,000 covid hosp in the state, not 45,000. And 12/100k*6.83 mill = ~800 ICU occupied, not 12,000. Thanks!
Great video by @milesobrien@NewsHour of @philipbstark showing how stats can give us confidence in election results. Risk-limiting audits are amazingly powerful!

@planarrowspace@dfcidatascience I think the recordings will be posted! Right, @dfdatascience? If not, I can share slides (but they do better with narration).
Studies show we have a tough time conceptualizing percentages. Is there a better way to illustrate risk and uncertainty? Science journalist @ReginaNuzzo presents "Brain-Hacking Stats Communication: A Quick Tour" at #Zelen2020. Event details: https://t.co/MaqaFNBNm2.
