Imagine you’re at a social function, and one shameless sophist has everyone’s attention - powerfully capturing their time and energy and focus.

Growing tired of him, or annoyed with him, many begin to gravitate toward the man he’s been railing *against* in his compelling diatribes, believing that if this blowhard dislikes him, there must be something to this other fellow..

suddenly, you subtly discern that both of these ‘polar opposites’ that now so command the attention of the room look alike - even sound a bit alike, as if they may be related..

before you can process your thoughts more deeply, a third figure emerges.. speaking in equally loud and confident tones, and being focused on and passionately argued against by both of the first two men, and rhetorically returning fire..

an interesting alternative to these two suspicious and overconfident characters - what luck! It feels comforting to see some diversity of opinion..

You stop and listen to the third man, secretly proud of your unconventional and independent streak (you’ve escaped the *matrix!*), as you observe the larger crowds around the other two men..

you notice all three speakers so consistently and frequently mention one another that those listening gradually come to forget any other ideologies and factions even exist, becoming enthralled with these three storylines, these philosophies and worldview perspectives, locked into this tripartite framework - even frequently breaking off into smaller circles to discuss and argue and contrast the three stances, relative to one another..

finally, at the end of the night, all three men slip out of different exits at different times - and yet, you observe them entering the same vehicle, headed to the same address, and suddenly notice all *three* could practically be brothers.. and that they look strikingly different from your own friends and family..
