It's only the most sensible lineup you could go with right now.
I love Rob Thomson, but stubbornly declaring that those top 5 guys need to get it together is a punt.
A good manager puts his players in the best possible position to succeed at any given time. This would be that.
INTERESTING: Philadelphia #Eagles tight end star Dallas Goedert told @BarstoolBigCat and @PFTCommenter that the “Sod Father” did not do good, and that he “knew what he was doing.”
“If the field was better, and if we where playing on turf I’m taking us 10 out of 10”
“There was a lot of people slipping, you can’t make that up, but we played on the same turf”
“Hope we get back next year, and play on good turf.”
@chasekj@MikeAlustrium@CespedesBBQ Just to be extra clear, I had a blast watching the Phils go on an improbable October run. It would have been great were they to finish the deal, but that was one of the most exciting months of baseball in my 39 years of following the Phillies.
@MicAitalia@MikeAlustrium@CespedesBBQ Like you, I was more than happy with how things turned out for the Phillies in 2022. It was such a thrilling, unexpected ride, and that Rhys Hoskins nuke and accompanying batslam was the moment where all 46,026 of us believed anything was possible.
Does that help you understand?
@MicAitalia@MikeAlustrium@CespedesBBQ It was the first home playoff game in 10 years, first home game in three weeks after an improbable playoff berth, and facing a division rival / defending WS champs.
That moment blew the roof off. I was lucky enough to be there, as well as one game in each. Nothing topped it.
@tjsurgeon24@CespedesBBQ Meh. Doesn't really do much for me. The Braves were *supposed* to be there; the Phillies were counted out.
Hoskins' smash off of Strider and the ensuing bat slam are forever part of Phillies lore; an all-time highlight. Alvarez HR came after the Trashtros cheated again, so... 🤔
@chasekj@MikeAlustrium@CespedesBBQ It lead to a dominant elimination of the defending World Series champs, another over the presumed favorite, and a World Series appearance that nobody expected, where they were beat by one of the best teams of the past decade.
Way better than getting mopped by a lowly WC team...
