Despite #Clayface making its entire production budget back on its opening weekend AND having overwhelmingly positive reviews… Somehow there’re still TONS of people deeming it a flop.
Is there a studio that catches more hate online than DC? This is getting a bit ridiculous😂

I mean thats just a horrific argument made in bad faith. The sole reason Marvel didn’t put out R rated films for near 15 years is because (statistically speaking) almost all R rated movies perform drastically worse than PG-13 movies (because they have a way smaller audience base).
This is also the sole reason why Clayface had less than half the budget of Morbius. Why are we saying it’s bad that Clayface preformed similarly to Morbius on opening weekend, when its budget was so much less, because it was EXPECTED to do worse from the jump?
That’s just horrific logic.
I say “they made production budget back in 3 days” and your response is as if I’m stupid and that “they need 2.5x the amount”…
Yes, that is an (estimated) equation for a studio to profit from the film. I don’t say the studio profited, I said the movie has made its production budget back at the box office. Production budget is a massive chunk of that 2.5 equation, I never deemed they got the whole thing.

Okay, so “just to test your logic”… Did Joker 2 make that 207 million back on its opening weekend and then just suddenly $0 came in every week after that?
No, it made $37.8 million its opening weekend. Then it made $200M TOTAL.
You’re comparing a movie making its production budget back by the end of its run in theaters to a movie making it back in 3 days total and saying the one in 3 days total is bombing.
Let’s use Joker 2 as another example… Clayface literally made more money in 3 days than Joker 2 did on opening weekend (the sequel to the biggest R rated movie of all time, at the time). But you think Clayface with great word of mouth won’t make profit, while Joker 2 reached $200m with horrific word of mouth and a worse opening?
Make it make sense. You’re just hurting your own points. 😭
You’re referring to a comment someone allegedly made at a test screening of supergirl… and comparing it to 3-4 FULL DAYS of ratings of Clayface to say it will change…
Let’s maybe talk about reality and compare the first 3-4 days of Supergirl to Clayfaces instead of one random comment allegedly made by someone at a test screening😭
Supergirl was getting TRASHED by this point.
@hm1086869480@steusmotus Correct. And I solely said production, not “production, marketing, and distribution”.
If you can spell out that math equation, you should be able to comprehend the issue at hand with him saying I’m wrong and that’s it’s 2.5x” here when I specifically said production 😂
Okay, so let’s roll with that… why is that the case on just this movie and not every other movie? We talking about opening weekend box offices and ratings literally every weekend and no one ever says this for anything else, so why did the general audience just elect not to rate Clayface of all things in your opinion?
Take it from someone with a literal degree in english:
“The film made their production budget back” ≠ “they made a profit”😭
Just two blatantly different statements. I’m not gonna lie, I can’t spend any more time entertaining this conversation anymore if you can’t even realize THAT lol.
Have a great night bro.
I didn’t say they earned their total budget back, i specifically said production budget.
Also: I’m gonna need all of you to get together and decide on what it needs to earn to get its money back because every single person telling me what I said was wrong (when in reality they just didn’t read what I said properly) has ALL said a different number the film needs to make😭.
Ya’ll just saying random numbers that keep going higher and higher atp lol
Yes. The movie had brought in more at the box office than the studio paid for production. Did I say the studio made all of that money? No. I said the MOVIE did.
No one’s moving the goalpost but you, and you’re not even seemingly meaning to, you just can’t seem to comprehend what’s being said😭
Do you not see the glaring bias in your statement when electing to only share critic scores on two specific sites because they are drastically lower than the audience scores? Why do you refuse to mention the 94% and only bring up the “6.6 average rating from critics” on the very same site?😭
Also, why do you keep saying “it made less than Morbius opening weekend” as some kind of insult when #1. Not only are you comparing a PG-13 movie’s opening (with double the budget) to an R rated movie’s opening (which are known to preform drastically worse at the box office), but #2. That isn’t even true? Morbius was at $39m at the end of Sunday its opening weekend. Clayface had announced to pass $40M this morning, so Sunday hadn’t even been accounted for.
I’m not not gonna go round and around with you anymore because you’re not even arguing your point in good faith, you’re just spouting abundantly clear bias and blatantly lying 😭
Have a great night man lol.
@MSUalum2015@100shemar You pointed out the one site with a bad rating (also three days out) to then say everyone else is getting ahead of themselves because it’s only been a few days after it’s pointed out that every other site has good ratings?
Are you a real person?😭
