@Steven_Swinford Andy Burnham is making a big mistake: he doesn't want to be tested for the job of PM. Now, he's going to have to find out the hard way that he's not up to the job. Just watch him relate all his policy ideas to buses. It's embarrassing, and a sign of his mediocre intelligence.
Just to say, and always got on with him fine (share a birthday as it happens and said he’d win from the start) but UK is going to be in serious economic trouble with Andy B as PM.
Italian PM Meloni to Trump:
So, certain things deserve an immediate response.
Donald Trump's statements are completely fabricated. I am frankly appalled. I don't know why the President of the United States behaves this way towards his allies; after all, it's not the first time it's happened.
I can only say it's a pity that he doesn't show the same determination with the enemies of the West, with the enemies of the United States, with leaders towards whom he instead proves to be much more accommodating.
But he must remember one thing: Italy and I never beg.
🚨 WATCH: Andy Burnham outlines his vision for Britain during his Makerfield victory rally:
- End "trickle-down" economics
- End the "unfair" immigration system
- Push reindustrialisation
- Public procurement to use British business
- Work placements for all 16–18-year-olds
@BBCPolitics Future Narrator: Sadly, Andy Burnham had absolutely no idea how to create a thriving UK economy, so things only got worse as he taxed more and borrowed more.
Privately educated James O’Brien says it’s a shame Prince George is going to Eton because he’ll be detached from ordinary people.
This is O’Brien insisting he had to send his own children to private school because otherwise the ghost of his late father would come back to haunt him.
Carol Vorderman celebrates Andy Burnham winning in Makerfield.
Her tactical voting coalition @FWDDEM advised Greens and Lib Dems to vote for Burnham.
The plan is for Burnham to introduce proportional representation to get a progressive alliance of Labour, Greens and Lib Dems.
@ChaplainChloe Well, Burnham and Miliband will make even more stupid decisions on tax and borrowing than Starmer and Reeves. Also, Burnham eats regional pies for lunch and adds the phrase, "Like I did with buses," to all policies.
He's been released because he's not fit for interview? Are the police OK? That's in the same category as the, "But the murderer told us he was innocent," nonsense they came up with the other day. Have they forgotten that he's definitely fit to try to murder small children?
They convinced you that 20 days holiday a year is generous.
That working until you're 67 is normal.
That one full time job just isn't enough to actually live on.
They're making you slaves so they can have 3 castles, 8 yachts and a spaceship.
@markswife Good question. Not long, but it seems like he wants to keep quiet at the moment. He's such a strong, powerful leader that he wants other people to do his dirty work for him.
I always thought it was obvious Andy Burhnam would win the Makerfield by-election easily. I'm equally sure he'll be a disaster as Prime Minister: he is a genuinely stupid person with no understanding of anything that matters.
It doesn't matter that the Reform UK candidate, Robert Kenyon, felt he had to delete his social media history. He was never going to beat Andy Burnham anyway. Voters in Makerfield were always going to fall for Burnham's ridiculous, fake working class northerner act.
Dear God. With Angela Eagle running UK security, what could possibly go wrong? We've officially reached the bottom of the barrel and started scraping the scrapings.
Great to welcome our Security Minister @angelaeagle to the Cabinet Office this week. I’m looking forward to working together with Angela on keeping the United Kingdom safe.

@SophyRidgeSky At some point soon, I think Keir Starmer will realise he has no choice but to resign. It's simply not going to be possible for him to fight a leadership election - he's lost the support of cabinet ministers. It's over for him.
