The landlord increased everyone's rent.
Only one tenant smiled.
Nobody understood why.
The compound was in chaos.
Some tenants were already packing.
Others begged for more time.
The landlord refused.
"If you can't afford it, move out."

The algorithm has been trash lately, more than half of the people I started this journey with aren’t on my TL anymore. Some stopped tweeting cos of the low visibility and engagement, some got suspended, some sold their accounts.
Out of the few that are still showing up are getting BME.
What’s going on?
I spent two years waving at the same woman from my apartment window before I learned her name.
When I moved to Florence, I rented a tiny apartment overlooking a narrow street.

The intern everyone laughed at ended up interviewing all of us six months later.
When the new intern started, he was painfully nervous.
On his first day, he introduced himself to the same manager twice because he forgot they'd already met.
He spilled coffee in the break room.
I thought my neighbor was stealing my newspaper every morning. The truth was far more embarrassing.
Every morning at exactly 6:30, I'd hear the newspaper hit my front porch.
By the time I got outside with my coffee...
It was gone.
This happened for almost two weeks.
🧵
I almost walked past a little boy crying in the middle of the mall because I assumed his parents were nearby. I'm glad I looked twice.
It was a busy Saturday afternoon in Seattle.
The food court was packed, kids were running around, and everyone seemed to be in a hurry.

I knew my relationship was over because of what happened at the airport baggage claim.
My girlfriend and I had just come back from a week in Italy.
People kept telling us we looked like the perfect couple.
The trip photos certainly made it seem that way.
🧵
I thought the woman sitting next to me on my flight was being incredibly rude. By the time we landed, I felt awful for judging her.
I was flying from Toronto to Vancouver for work.
As soon as the woman took the seat beside me, she put on noise-canceling headphones,

I agreed to help my friend move for one afternoon. By the end of the day, I realized I wasn't a friend I was free labor.
When she called, she said she just needed "an extra pair of hands."
"No movers," she laughed. "Just a few boxes."
🧵
I thought my uncle was about to ask me for money. Instead, he handed me an envelope that changed the way I think about success.
My uncle had always been the "successful" one in the family.
Nice house.
Luxury car.
Always traveling.
So when he called and asked if we could meet,
I found out my relationship had ended before my girlfriend ever said the words.
I was living in Manchester, and my girlfriend had moved to Edinburgh for a one-year master's program.
We promised each other we'd make long distance work.
🧵
I missed the last train in Tokyo because I stopped to help a stranger. I thought I'd ruined my entire trip.
It was my final night in Japan.
I'd spent the evening wandering through quiet streets, picking up a few souvenirs before heading back to my hotel.

A brand reached out to me for a paid campaign.
I was still waiting for their brand assets so we could kick things off when someone else reached out asking me to recommend a brand for a service they needed.
Guess what?
The service they needed was the exact service the brand offers.
We haven't even started the campaign, yet I've already referred a potential lead to them.
This is what happens when you build an audience that trusts your recommendations.
Brands don't just need visibility. They need visibility in front of the right audience.
And that's the kind of value I strive to bring to every collaboration.

Someone in my apartment building had been stealing my clothes from the laundry room for 3 weeks, so I decided to set a trap.
At first, I thought I was just losing things. A T-shirt disappeared. Then two pairs of socks. Then my favorite hoodie.
I asked in the building group chat, “Has anyone accidentally taken clothes from Dryer 3?”
Nobody responded.
Two days later, I saw a woman from the third floor wearing my hoodie in the elevator. I recognized it immediately because it had a tiny bleach stain near the pocket.
I looked at her and said, “Nice hoodie.”
She smiled. “Thanks. I just bought it.”
I didn’t argue.
That night, I took an old sweatshirt, wrote my initials on the inside tag with permanent marker, and put it in the washing machine. Then I sat in my car outside the laundry room entrance.
Twenty minutes later, the same woman walked in. She came out carrying my sweatshirt.
I followed her upstairs. When she reached her door, I said, “I think you have something that belongs to me.”
She froze. “This is mine.”
“Check the tag.”
She looked inside. My initials were right there.
Then she said something I still can’t believe. “Well, if you leave clothes unattended in a shared laundry room, people are going to assume you don’t want them.”
I said, “You took it out of the washing machine while it was still wet.”
She rolled her eyes and……………………
My grandmother gave every grandchild the exact same birthday card every year. We all thought she was forgetting our names. We couldn't have been more wrong.
Every birthday, without fail, the card looked identical.
Same flowers on the front.

The tenant smiled and said,
"I've been telling you for two years that the drainage needs fixing. Instead of repairing it, you kept increasing the rent."
The landlord lowered his head.
A month later, workers arrived and fixed the drainage.
The next rent increase was cancelled.
