It lets you remotely run driver functions of various peripheral library on MCU connected to PC. Without having to write firmware and flashing chip via the use of debug protocol.

@NoraDotCodes There's another interesting way add ADC to Rpi :) You can just expand Rpi's hardware using MCU. You can control MCU's ADC from Rpi as if the peripheral was a part of Rpi chip. Without having to develop a firmware and kernel drivers.
