"Quiet Quitting": @mdryall & I on the growing phenomenon of #highereducation#philanthropy donors who quietly exit planned gifts (under-reported relative to public announcements by 🇺🇸's leading philanthropists Leon Cooperman, Marc Rowan, & Ken Griffin) https://t.co/kj18m16GEI
Like us at FAR, college #philanthropists are worried about the cost of #college.
Many colleges are still engines for economic mobility, but what about the school to which you're giving? Check out @ThirdWayTweet's data to see how they add up.

📢 "Donors who seek reform should invest in established universities whose leaders are willing to take a stand for the liberal tradition in higher education"
SPOILER @JackMillerCtr's @hanszeiger mentions our Oases of Excellence as a resource for donors committed to liberalism
“No wonder many alumni and donors speak of feeling misled. Now, the game is up. The question is what donors committed to liberalism, and liberal education, should do next, @JackMillerCtr’s @hanszeiger writes in @LawLiberty … https://t.co/o7vVliDnyC

Higher ed needs donors who care about free speech.
Check out FIRE's thread for great advice, and consider giving to programs that already prioritize free speech, like @goACTA's OOE network: https://t.co/WBHAbRnXgo
🧵: At a time when free speech is under attack on campuses, university donors have the power to reform them into the oases of free speech and academic freedom they always should have been.
Thankfully, FIRE has a few ideas on how to do that:
College endowments, with $691B, easily attract scrutiny. "Each institution’s ensuing steps will either deepen or erode trust," writes Assoc. Dean of @faubusiness, Dr. @siriterjesen
Transparency, sensible fees, regular evaluations and better donor communication are "imperative."

Irish-American Chuck Feeney, a retail entrepreneur, passed away on Oct. 9 with a legacy of more than $8 billion donated to charity.
On the Giving Pledge, he said "I cannot think of a more personally rewarding and appropriate use of wealth than to give while one is living"
Chuck Feeney was a model of the Giving While Living ethic & he abandoned a preference for anonymity to promote it. He was one of the few mega-philanthropists to understand the responsibilities of great wealth to mean giving nearly all of that wealth away.
