The thing is.. I love Star Wars for its goofy aliens, universal themes, and sweeping adventures-- but pound for pound it's *never* going to make me reflect on my modern existence the way Trek *always* does.
Yes, we all love Betty White, an elder treasure.
And we are all thrilled for the legal liberation of Britney.
Take some of each of those feelings, and apply it to Nichelle Nichols, who has suffered elder abuse and financial abuse. Lt. Uhura needs us.

One of our waitresses pointed out to me shortly after we'd come back to Dine In (but with a mask mandate) that she was (at the time) working one of the only jobs where there's a member of the public who can talk to you with their mask off. Because they were 'eating or drinking'.
As your local line cook who's responsible for a large amount of your DoorDash these last two years... YEAH THIS. It is nothing short of LUCK that our restaurant hasn't had to shut down(yet...) & yes I've had to cover at other stores in our chain that did have half the staff out.
i just started taking medication for ADHD today after discussing it with my doc and a specialist and holy shit is this what peoples brains work like? what the fuck??
everything is so clear? like i started wearing glasses but inside my brain? the fuck??? lmao WHAT
@Fangirling_0nly Seconding Palm Springs! I know we're not moots but I evangelize that movie at every turn because I think it's really interesting char development and fun
@BlackAdder001@edckbar As a rule, I don't respond to bait like this but, can you genuinely look at this post, respect it's intentions and make a comment like this? Or are you regurgitating the same thing you've told yourself for 4 years? Honestly tell me? I'm listening earnestly
realized the other day I called my mom "bro" several times during our FaceTime and she had the grace not to comment but I will be taking some time to reflect regardless...
@aquawolfgirl For me that swooping angry/embarrassed feeling only happens rarely now (at 32) but I think my waitressing years helped me practice responding to that energy the most. I had to hone my own 'stern response voice' and once you can do it back to them it helps.
I'm no music expert but-- Sarah Cothran's cover of Matt Maltese's "As The World Caves In" :: Buckley covering Cohen's "Hallelujah". Both examples of how really good song writing lives beyond the vocalist. And also how if you're paying attention, music today is *still* Very Good.
@sarahschauer Oh, and also if you even see this sarah, I feel like it's important for you to know that at least in my case I got divorced over Zoom. Like, official court letter with a Zoom meeting number and the judge sitting in her home office. Was kinda surreal and only took 15 min.
@sarahschauer So like, I also got divorced during quarantine and actively dealing w. sobriety, and I can't even stress enough how unhelpful peoples conjecture is rn. I have so little patience for the "public figure" argument- feel like that's an excuse to be openly judgy w/o 'consequence'..
