I left my work laptop open to use the restroom some years back and a colleague told me to lock it before going out.
He said he left his work laptop opened at his previous workplace and someone got on his laptop and sent resignation letter from his email to the CEO.

HR: We lost our top performer.

CEO: What happened?

HR: He was terminated last month.

CEO: Yes, because he submitted a resignation letter.

HR: That's the problem. He didn't.

CEO: What do you mean he didn't?

HR: Someone created a resignation letter in his name and left it on the printer.

CEO: How did this happen?

HR: Someone found it, assumed it was real, and management acted on it.

CEO: Surely he confirmed he was resigning.

HR: No one asked him.

CEO: Nobody spoke to him?

HR: No. He was called into a meeting and informed that his resignation had been accepted.

CEO: That doesn't make any sense.

HR: He said he never wrote the letter.

CEO: Then why wasn't that investigated?

HR: Because someone here believed he was becoming too successful and causing tension within the team.

CEO: Are you saying this was office politics?

HR: Yes. The resignation letter simply gave them an excuse.

CEO: What happened after he left?

HR: We discovered he was handling work that three different people are now struggling to manage.

CEO: You're telling me we fired one of our best employees because of a letter nobody verified?

HR: Correct.

CEO: That's unbelievable.

HR: What's more unbelievable is that ↓↓↓
