Incompetence and corruption are expensive.

Are we really surprised that ADOC, an agency that has cost us a 100 million dollars in legal fees and also mismanaged a billion-dollar healthcare contract, couldn’t manage a billion-dollar prison construction contract?

I think the world of Governor Ivey, but her administration’s handling of the construction of Alabama’s two new men’s prisons is flat out wrong.

Taxpayers deserve to understand what has transpired during the failed construction of the first facility before they are asked to foot the bill for a second.

Below is a letter I shared with her before today’s Alabama Corrections Institution Financing Authority meeting.

Since being incarcerated in Alabama is essentially cruel and unusual punishment, we are likely to lose the DOJ lawsuit too. That will cost us millions. We will eventually spend a billion dollars a year on prisons.
