I will be joined by Lisa Rush, MSW candidate at UAA, who has been working on these issues in our office, and Trevor Stefano, prison reform advocate and paralegal who has been formerly incarcerated in Alaska's prison system.
This morning we're kicking off the final day of #LISOrlando2022 with a #StrongEconomies session where expert speakers are discussing policy solutions for Ensuring a Stable Supply Chain of Necessary Medicines in the U.S. Thank you to our BOD Treasurer @RepGeranTarr for moderating!
Well, this was a totally awesome way to start the day! I got to join the Junior Achievement folks as they met with students at Williwaw Elementary School. Investing in our young people is always the right thing to do!
I love working with this group of scientists, researchers, natural resource managers, tribal leaders, advocates, and more that are doing critical work across our state to maintain our natural ecosystems and habitat that important species like salmon rely on to live.
All ASD schools are closed, and all ASD after-school activities are cancelled today due to weather and road conditions impacting our current bus transportation circumstances.

Today, October 25th, is African American Soldiers’ Contribution to Building the Alaska Highway Day. This holiday was created through SB 46 in 2017, which was sponsored by Senator David Wilson. I was glad to work with Senator Wilson on this legislation and carry it in the House.
These soldiers were given substandard equipment, yet completed the highway ahead of schedule. We celebrate this holiday every year on 10/25, because the Alaska Highway was completed on October 25, 1942.
Thank you to all of the amazing organizations that do this important prevention and shelter work around Alaska, including the @AKNetworkonDVSA and its member organizations like @staralaska and @AWAICinc in Anchorage.
Today, we wore purple to participate in #PurpleThursday during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Many survivors of DV/SA, especially in Alaska, are suffering in silence. Today we wear purple to show our support and reaffirm our commitment to addressing this terrible issue.
One of my top priorities in the Legislature has been to address AK's unacceptably high rates of sexual assault and domestic violence, and I was proud to sponsor HB 291, which extended the Council on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault.
Just finished up with a lunch meeting with some of our Mt. View small business owners and small business development organizations at Jamico's Pizzaria! Jamico's is an Anchorage institution that has been around for nearly 60 years.
