I always enjoy joining the Kauaʻi Farm Bureau Annual Meeting to hear firsthand about the challenges they’re facing—from storms and invasive species to rising costs and getting products to market—and the hopes they have for the next generation of local food producers.

And yes... I once again judged the dessert contest. 🍪 No complaints here!

Housing is critical infrastructure. We need to protect it, invest in it, and prioritize it just like we do water and electricity.

Mahalo to the Realtors Association of Maui for a candid conversation about the housing challenges facing our island—from recovery and rebuilding to expanding homeownership opportunities. We also discussed new federal tools through the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which I was proud to help pass.

Housing isn't just about building more homes. It's about making sure local families can afford to stay, live, and thrive on Maui.

Just near Lydgate Park, one of Kauaʻi’s most frequented beaches, the Wailua Wastewater Treatment Plant provides an essential public service every day and helps to keep our waters clean.

I visited the facility to see firsthand why we’ve been fighting for Community Project Funding to expand and relocate it out of the tsunami inundation zone and away from the beach. Investing in resilient infrastructure today helps keep our oceans clean, protects essential public services, and ensures we’re prepared for whatever tomorrow brings.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has slated Hilo’s Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry for closure, threatening critical research on wildfire resilience, invasive species, and ecosystem health across Hawaiʻi and the Pacific.

I asked the Forest Chief himself to try coming to Hawaiʻi, flying between our islands, and seeing the work firsthand before claiming that shutting down IPIF will bring resources closer to our communities.

You can put lipstick on a pig. It’s still a pig.

Call it gaming. Call it a prediction market. At the end of the day, when people are wagering money on a sports event, it's gambling.

Hawaiʻi has made its choice: no gambling. Prediction markets should not be allowed to exploit a regulatory loophole to offer what is effectively sports betting, overriding states’ rights and evading safeguards meant to protect our people.

Nothing warmed my heart more than being back in Lahaina for Homecoming Weekend. More than 100 former residents returned to reconnect, support local businesses, and celebrate the place they call home. I also met with Front Street business and commercial property owners to hear directly about the challenges they're facing as they rebuild and what federal support they need to move forward.

Seeing everyone together was a powerful reminder of Lahaina's strength. This community has endured so much, yet it remains Lahaina Strong. Mahalo to everyone who made this evening possible, and welcome home.

Chicken skin to stand with more than 800 Native Hawaiian beneficiaries receiving residential project leases in Nānākuli, Waimānalo, and ʻEwa this past weekend.

These leases carry forward the promise Prince Kūhiō fought for more than a century ago: keeping Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands. I’ll keep fighting to protect that promise, uphold our federal trust responsibility, and bring more ʻohana home.
