I am pleased to announce that HCR 7, which supports the American Legion Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State programs, has been adopted and enrolled. Thank you to @Ohio_Legion for helping inspire tomorrow’s leaders by offering them “a week to change a lifetime.”
Today, we honor and remember the sacrifices peace officers have given as they protect and serve our communities. As they risk everything everyday, we must reflect on how we can better support them.
When Ohio voters rejected SB 5 as an attack on their ability to collectively bargain, it unfortunately wasn’t the end of the story. Here we are again, with the endless and baseless attacks on collective bargaining and education doing nothing but dragging Ohio to the bottom.
Last night I joined graduating JVS students to celebrate their Signing Day. I am very excited to see all these talented and bright minds will do as they move into their next chapter. Thank you to the JVS and all the local businesses for making these opportunities possible.
District 53 and myself are immensely proud of the Steele students who dedicated themselves to our Constitution and great nation at today’s Military Signing Ceremony. They will no doubt continue to make our community proud, and I thank all Steele staff for putting on this event.
Yesterday, I joined the workers of Lorain County in remembering those tragically lost or injured on the job sites. Union power is necessary in preventing these tragedies.
I joined officers and their families in praying for the safety of all law enforcement in the line of duty at today’s Blue Mass. May the Lord protect and keep them.
Our brave Artemis astronauts recently took some stunning photos of our home. On this Earth Day, let us remember what beauty this world holds and why we should preserve it for the generations to come.
U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) fights with CNN's Brianna Keilar after she asks him why he's now for strict voter ID laws when Ohio's elections were "fair, safe and secure" without voter ID laws when he was secretary of state.
KEILAR: "Just to be clear, when you were Ohio secretary of state and you could vote using a utility bill, bank statement or government check, that was a fair, safe and secure election. That's just what you said."
HUSTED: "And we had fraud during that time under those provisions."
KEILAR: "You didn't have very much..."
Attended the Wellington State of the Village as I continue my efforts to hear from all of you. It confirmed what we all know, village and school officials have been good stewards of your tax dollars. Duke pride is alive and well in the community.
Glad I could meet a delegation of Miami University students today who were advocating for higher education. Ohio is such a better place with these fine institutions and the young professionals they produce.
As Kim pointed out to us, the quote on Lincoln’s statue in the Rotunda states: “care for him who have borne the battle, and for his widow and his orphans.”
Today, I reintroduced a bill to honor our Gold Star Families by designating the Honor and Remember Flag. I was joined by CW2 Brian Hazelgrove’s surviving family, his wife, VP of the Gold Star Spouses of America Kim, and his father, Ron, in dropping the bill.
