This year’s budget includes $179 million in funding for Tennessee’s public schools. I am proud to have delivered more dollars for education than we have in state history. We are fully funding Tennessee schools.

As of July 1st, it is now a FELONY to assault a first responder. If you’re bad enough to assault a police officer, fireman, EMT or paramedic, you ought to go behind bars. I am proud to have supported policies that will take the worst of the worst off of Memphis’ streets.
I had a wonderful day celebrating America’s 250th Fourth of July with my local community in the neighborhood of Greentrees! We live in the greatest country in the world, and we do not take our freedoms for granted. Here’s to another 250 years.”
From my family to yours, Happy Fourth of July! May your day be filled with good food, great company, and gratitude for the blessings of liberty we so often take for granted. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
Tennessee balanced our budget once again this year, and we still had enough margin to set aside $20 million for our Rainy-Day fund. Our total reserves total $2.2 billion, putting us in an incredibly secure position financially. This is what good stewardship looks like.
Celebrating Tennessee Beef Month this July! Our state's farmers don't just produce world-class beef, they preserve a way of life rooted in hard work and tradition. Proud to represent a state where agriculture is still a point of pride.
Today, July 1 marks a new chapter for Tennessee. Drink spiking is now a felony, and kratom is officially banned in our state. Tennessee is serious about public safety, and these laws reflect the values of the people we serve.
$400 million is coming to Tennessee's transportation infrastructure. Our communities deserve roads and bridges that are safe, reliable, and built to last. This funding is a direct investment in the quality of life of every Tennessean.
This year, we invested $400 M in transportation to support infrastructure needs for a growing Tennessee.
We thank the General Assembly for their partnership to expedite road projects & fund new projects across our rural & urban communities.

Tennessee’s education system rises or falls on one thing: our teachers. Without quality teachers, kids will not receive a quality education. As we venture to govern within the realm of education, we must protect teachers in the process. Read my op-ed here. https://t.co/ohhoiAM1yW
Today is the International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking. In just days, on July 1st, Tennessee bans Kratom. Progress worth celebrating, and this is proof that Tennessee is winning in the fight for healthier communities.
As a former educator, I know that a teacher’s first concern these days is to send every student back home safe. That’s why I supported a budget that allocates $10 million in grants for additional safety resources, available to schools across Tennessee.
Transparency makes corruption and waste visible to everyone. That’s why fiscal transparency is important to schools across Tennessee. The Better Spending Better Schools Act will require every school district to submit financial reports to the TN DOE. Accountability matters.
The Memphis-Shelby County School System has failed our students for too long. I am excited to see the progress that will come from the state's intervention, and I am grateful for @CSexton25's leadership as we have sought to solve this problem for Memphis. https://t.co/fpX8RR3wVg
There is no higher or more important calling for a man than to be a father, and nothing makes me as proud as my own daughter, Bonny. In 2009, I wrote a book titled, “May I Call You Dad,” on the importance of fathers in the home. We honor our fathers today; happy Father's Day.
The first official day of summer is tomorrow! There is no better place on earth to spend a summer than right here in Tennessee. Make sure you slow down and enjoy it all, happy summer.
The bald eagle was chosen as our national emblem 244 years ago today. It still means what it always has: freedom, strength, and the promise of America. Happy American Eagle Day.
I am grateful for all the hard work our police have done to make Memphis a safer place, and I am proud to have passed a budget that gives the state $320 million for public safety initiatives. Tennessee is a law-and-order state, and we are proud to fully fund our law enforcement.
There is nothing ordinary about the American flag. Every stripe and every star tells a story of courage, perseverance, and faith. On Flag Day, we remember the cost of the freedom it represents.
