Many partners to people living with eating disorders express fear, helplessness, or confusion in the face of the condition. In our forthcoming paper, we asked people living with EDs what advice they would give to someone who learns that their partner has an eating disorder.

Eating disorders are often associated with young, heterosexual, white women, but BIPOC and LGBTQ individuals experience eating disorders at similar rates and in some cases, are less likely to receive help.

My Korean immigrant dad had an overnight in the hospital & called this am. Says w pleasant surprise he has a Vietnamese nurse. Racial match may not improve treatment outcome but it can help minoritized people feel seen and implicitly understood even if quality of care is the same
