I want to share with you something that happened at the Ukrainian festival yesterday.

We were at our booth explaining what Maidan United does when an older gentleman came up to us and dropped $50 into our donation jar. We thanked him and he walked away before we had a chance to talk to him.

He came back some time later, gave us another $20, and walked away.

“Go ask him if he wants a t-shirt!” my friend, Sofia, said. So I ran after the man.

“Would you like one of our t-shirts?” I asked when I caught up to him.

“No, thank you, dear,” he answered, “I'm over 80 years old. I have everything I need. I just wanted to make a donation to you because I'm a Vietnam vet and I support Ukraine.”

I thanked him for his service and asked if I could give him a hug. We ended up chatting for a while.

At the end of our conversation, he told me, “Just keep on praying. God always answers our prayers. Sometimes they don't get answered right away, but they do in time.”

“Thank you, I needed to hear that today,” I told him, “There is only one thing that I want.”

“I know, dear,” he said, “I pray for the same thing. Remember that often God tells us things we need to hear through random people we meet.”

I hugged him again and walked back to our booth filled with renewed hope.
