🟠⚠️ AMBER WARNING ⚠️ 🟠
Storm Floris is set to bring unseasonably strong and disruptive winds across all parts of Scotland tomorrow, Monday, 4 August. The Met Office has issued a blanket yellow warning across the country, in place from 06:00-00:00, with an upgraded amber warning across Glasgow, Edinburgh and all areas north of the Central Belt between 10:00-22:00.
Due to these adverse weather conditions, blanket 50mph speed restrictions will be implemented by Network Rail across all our routes. This will result in disruption to ScotRail services throughout the day.
Further to this, no services leave after 12.00 on Monday, 4 August on the following routes:
Edinburgh - Fife/Perth/Dundee.
Perth - Dundee/Aberdeen/Inverness.
Dunblane - Perth.
Inverness - Aberdeen/Wick/Thurso/Kyle of Lochalsh.
West Highland Line (Helensburgh Upper - Oban, Fort William and Mallaig).
Customers holding tickets for travel on Monday, 4 August, can use their tickets to travel on services today (Sunday, 3 August), Monday morning (4 August) or Tuesday, 5 August.
Storm Floris is expected to break recorded wind speeds for the month of August across many areas, making this an extremely intense storm for the time of year.
Once the storm has passed, Network Rail engineers will need to inspect the closed lines for any damage, with passengers being advised that services will start later on Tuesday across affected routes. Network Rail Scotland’s helicopter will assist teams on the ground to complete essential checks across the network as quickly as possible.
If you need to travel, please keep up to date with all the latest information using the ScotRail app, website, or https://t.co/zAlzOPAbib pages.
