@UniverseIce YES! I have been trying to develop a live streaming app for my Galalxy S26 Ultra, and it's horrible walking around a theme park or town at night. Anytime a face is seen in the frame, it cranks the exposure to crazy levels and causes a horrible flicker.
YES! I've been struggling with this while developing our live streaming app. When I am walking around at night, anytime the camera detects a face, it flash the exposure up really bright and creates the weird flickering effect. I've tried many ways to turn it off, but it won't.
I need your help. Let's send this suggestion to Samsung together.
Samsung should add a Face Metering toggle to its Camera app, allowing users to decide whether face metering is enabled.
Here's the problem.
When taking photos at night, especially in scenes with bright signs or strong lighting, Samsung's camera automatically detects faces and prioritizes exposing them correctly.
The issue is that Samsung's face detection is extremely sensitive. Even a tiny face in the distance, a side profile, or a random passerby can trigger it. Once a face is detected, the camera raises the overall exposure, often causing bright signs, neon lights, and illuminated backgrounds to become severely overexposed, ruining the atmosphere of the shot.
As you can see in my photo, two people who aren't even the subjects of the image were detected as faces. As a result, the bright storefront in the background is heavily overexposed, and much of the night scene's detail is lost.
Many of the time, we're trying to capture the night scenery, not the people. The only workaround is to manually lower the exposure every single time, which is frustrating.
My suggestion is simple:
Please add a Face Metering On/Off toggle.
When shooting portraits, users can leave it enabled. When shooting city lights, street scenes, or night landscapes, users can turn it off.
This keeps the excellent portrait experience while giving photographers full control over exposure. The choice should belong to the user.
If you've experienced this issue too, please help post this suggestion on Samsung Korea Community, Samsung Members USA, and other official Samsung forums so the company can hear more voices from the community.
Thank you. I hope Samsung considers this small change, because it would make a huge difference for night photography.
