Can’t stop thinking about the keynote by @torinellis - “We will know we’ve made progress when people stop referencing the death of George Floyd as the reason for being a better human.”
Be better humans for no reason other than you should be!

@humanworkplace ...How can we expect society to recognize how absurd this question is if they can’t recognize how absurd no job protection or financial support for new parents is in the first place?
@humanworkplace While I agree this question is in no way appropriate, I think we also need to recognize the place of extreme privilege this question comes from. Most people don’t even have the ability to take 6 months for maternity leave let alone be picky about the questions a company asks....
Add to this that I am immediately asked if I will stop working to get my kid through virtual school but I have yet to hear a single man get asked the same question.
read this thread, which is a mashup of how to subvert the patriarchy and further depressing evidence of said patriarchy (and yay to all these women with fake assistants; this is amazing)
@WIguyinMN@humanworkplace What does the manager do when someone puts in their 2 week notice, or even quits on the spot? Maybe the company should require a 6 month notice instead? Oh wait, that’s ridiculous...
@humanworkplace If the Prime Minister of New Zealand can mostly unplug for 6 weeks, so can you. The work will always be there, but your child will never be as small tomorrow as s/he is today!!
BREAKING NEWS: About 1.3 million Americans who work more than 40 hours a week would become eligible for #overtime pay under a rule proposed Thursday by the Labor Department. https://t.co/arPRiEUxe6 @SHRM
Q. I don’t mind telling a recruiter I won’t give up my current salary, but when I’m sitting across the desk from my [hopefully] future boss it’s harder to say “I won’t tell you.”
A. “Sorry, I signed a confidentiality agreement - and I’d be happy to do the same for you”
