I have identified around six automations required for each individual segment placement

Presenting the precast segment to the Erector
Erector identifying the engagement point on the segment
Erector lifting the segment
Erector auto balancing the segment
Bringing the segment to the right place in the ring
Erector disengaging with the segment and returning home after pushing the front propulsion cylinders on the segment

It appears they are still perfecting the more nuanced keystone segment that go in between other segments

As we see in the video there is a computer vision problem of detecting the engagement point on the segment correctly by the erector in all scenarios

Another important point at the end of the video, the team lead talks about all the sensor and image data being used to improve the machine vision models. I am very curious about this because recording the operator movements along with images, sensor data coming in should create a photons in, sensor info in, controls out automation similar to tesla fsd. Would love to hear more about how they are thinking about this.
