A textbook example of preemptive DARVO:
The covert narcissist will tell people they are afraid of their victim. They'll say the victim is “dangerous.”
This is a partial truth. They are indeed expressing fear, but not for the reasons they’re trying to make it look like.
They're afraid of being exposed.
To the narcissist, the victim IS dangerous. The victim is dangerous because they know the truth. They’ve seen behind the mask. They can unravel the false persona the narcissist has carefully constructed. That’s the real threat.
So the narcissist flips the script before the victim can speak—preemptively framing themselves as the one in danger. That way, if the victim defends themselves or tells the truth, it’s twisted to confirm the narcissist’s story.
This is DARVO in action:
Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender.
A preemptive smear campaign disguised as protection.

@hierodula This assertion fails to recognize the effects of oppression/coercive control. These tactics are subtle. The victim is in a state of confusion and unclear what is happening . The effects can last for years

The script needs to be flipped. It’s not “they bear blame for not speaking out when being harmed”. Rather, “abusive spiritual leaders bear blame for suppressing/oppressing the voices of their victims through coercive control”. The oppressed do not need to repent for enduring oppression.
