SHELL SA SOLD FOR R16 BILLION

Adnoc has agreed to buy Shell’s South African downstream fuel business for about R16bn, marking one of the country’s biggest energy deals.

The acquisition includes around 580 service stations, commercial fuels, aviation and marine operations, but excludes Shell’s upstream exploration assets.

Shell will continue licensing its brand at filling stations after the sale.

Around 28% of the business will later be sold to black economic empowerment partners.

The deal strengthens Adnoc’s international expansion and is expected to increase its global fuel sales by about 20%.

CAF has invited all 54 African member associations to bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2028, 2032, and 2036.
