Hey clergy Twitter! Anxious, exhausted, or just don’t want to deal with taxes this year? Let me help. My small business specializes in clergy tax preparation and consultation. Send me a note, tell your clergy friends, etc.!
Every play he does or doesn’t make, people will, with some legitimate reason, wonder if he’s manipulating the outcome because of betting. That’s the exact reason why sports leagues’ one absolute has always been about gambling.
Say Brendan Sorsby throws two picks in the first half of a game — you’ll have people wondering if he had money on the Tech under.
Every play will be scrutinized and questioned.
Here’s the thing: every decision he makes, every throw he does or doesn’t make, someone will wonder if it’s because of a bet he made. That’s the problem with letting Sorsby play after betting on his own sport. He’s given the appearance that the game is fair and un-predetermined.
@AndyStaples Do they think it’s possible or are they just telling you they think that? Because why would players, especially elite players, agree to that? They’re already getting everything they want and winning most of the time in the courts.
I agree that there are crimes much much worse than betting, but if sports can’t enforce that one rule then what hope would we have of enforcing the other things you’re concerned about?
I’m not saying Soresby was right but yall got more energy for him this morning than these other football players who beat women and drive wreckless behind the wheel.
FOH dawg.
@notthefakeSVP@IMFB_Blog That you and your employer are so deeply in bed with gambling that maybe you should reconsider your life decisions; that might be one point here.
@Jon__Reed@MonsieurTango@_NewSlang I’m not a Tech fan, and I think this is a terrible decision. Buts it’s more complicated than just “oh it’s a Tech judge doing this for his team,” though I agree that local sentiment surely is playing a role.
Did nobody notice Ream got intentionally screened on that set play goal? Beautiful play from Germany, but that guy came from offsides to block Ream so Havertz was wide open. #usmnt
@JWMediaDC@NCAA@Big12Conference This is a bizarre and stupid way to talk about profit. Every athletic department depends on boosters, and many also use institutional support. Those are income. But you know this, this tweet is just dumb engagement bait.
Broke: Tech is scared to play anyone good.
Woke: Texas is afraid to play Tech.
Bespoke: Tech is scared to play Abilene Christian again (who lost 51-52 to Tech in 2024 and arguably should have won).
@alex_kirshner As a totally disinterested party who just happens to support Houston, I think a 3-game suspension would be fair. Just sit him for whatever teams they happen to face in those first three games this season. Not even sure who that is.
@UHCougarFB@UHCougars Graphics folk, this is damn near impossible to read. Can we make ones that look good and can be read? I’m not even trying to be snarky here, I’m genuinely asking.
