Last season we had some folks calling us “Long Jump County” thanks to two guys named Cothern and Hallam. They practiced every day in a pit that was essentially a pile of sand that flooded and washed away every time it rained. Next spring our kids will be practicing in this. ⚡️
Privileged to get two all-time greats together for a workout tonight (Rex is long jumping for Illinois State these days). The two top medal winners in Olney History didn’t disappoint 😳
@RexHallam2 hit a new PR of 37”.
@gavyncothern2 hit 38… the best jump I’ve ever measured.
Struggled forever w/ what to do when it comes to comparing my ML data to the years of Freelap times I already had... to the point of even going back to FL for a while. Finally decided on a normalized/converted FL MPH so all our data lives next to each other... pretty happy w/ it.
After missing his junior season to injury, Rex wound up an All-American for us last year.
We called him “The Unicorn”… his potential has no ceiling. ⚡️
The Tigers now have an All-American in @RexHallam2 (LJ) to add to their 9 All-Staters on the MS year-end honors list. Rex jumped over 24 feet multiple times this season with a best of 24'7, all after losing his Junior year to a knee injury. So happy for this kid!
