A little while back I mentioned wanting to try to push myself and do new content and collab with people. Rey Morado was a name that popped up on my radar as someone to possibly interview. Something Iβve never done before so I wanted to make sure I didnβt come empty handed and empty minded. I had to tap in. SIEGE. was an easy choice of an album to start with as it just dropped this year. It took me a bit but I got to it and it was worth the time!
The first thing youβll notice is Ray Morados voice. I often speak about vocals being important not only for delivery but artistic uniqueness. This is something Ray Morado understands and utilizes. Bringing a gruff and aggressive tone that he calls AGGRO. I really like this style and mixed with great vocal control, flows and lyricism, Ray Morado is a well rounded MC with plenty to offer. Rays voice doesnβt have to dictate his content thiugh, there are songs here that bring a calmer and softer sound that Ray fits to perfectly, like 4TH W4LL REDUX (JERIKO) AWOL. & FADER, all standout songs.
Then on the other hand, Ray Morado can get into the mud and murky style, which his voice amplifies and elevates. Invasion brings a calm and smooth intro to introduce you to Ray before Age Of Empires really opens the door. And things continue to build as Melly comes next, a single for the album with a video thatβs worth checking out! Itβs dark and haunting as Ray Morado spits βI got murder on my mind, ainβt no way to hide, Iβve been locked in Mellyβ. The album brings a great blend between aggressive, dark, soulful and melodic. This is an album I can easily put on and let play front to back.
This album was right up my alley, ominous yet introspective and takes itβs calm moments serious. Ray Morado is clearly a skilled and talented artist that understands his sound amid direction he wants to go. Now I just gotta put in some work and get more ears on the music!
