So, what happened? White leftists were conned (demoralized) by Left theory into seeing Western civilization itself as the oppressive particular that history has to sublate so humanity can rise to a higher, more whole level.

The con is simple: split the West in two. Everything bad and oppressive structures are, ensemble, Western Civ. Everything good that it made is really universal.

So, Capitalism, Whiteness, patriarchy, colonialism all become the oppressive structures to negate and overcome. But all the hospitals, science, technology, surplus, and formal freedom suddenly have no necessary connection to the civilization that developed them. Those are just humanitys goodies now.

So then the leftists believe they can abolish the form but keep the products. They believe they can universalize the inheritance and then transcend Western civilization but somehow lose nothing worth having.

Thats the con that makes the whole project saleable. Civilizational self-negation gets marketed to the left as an upgrade. Just strip away the supposedly oppressive Western structures, and then everybody can just viiibe, maaan, in abundance.

Meanwhile POC, or rather “marginalized”groups get the opposite instruction. For the marginalized too, then, Western particularity becomes the particular that must be transcended.
