The video was filmed on **June 8, 2026** (very recently).
It shows NDP MP **Charlie Angus** speaking in a parliamentary setting (CPAC coverage), calling on the newly appointed Foreign Influence Transparency Commissioner **Anton Boegman** to investigate alleged US interference in the Alberta separatist movement. He references statements from US Ambassador Pete Hoekstra about Canada’s sovereignty in trade negotiations “this past week.”
The original post frames it as Ottawa “launching” investigations — it’s actually Angus *calling for* one.

Przeworski is just another highly ethnocentric American political scientist unable to accept the VDem stats that show USA is failing badly as a democracy, and that US pluralist theory is completely falsified. The USA even has no worthwhile rule of law now.
Very happy that the article I wrote with @StephanieCarvin on the evolution of Canada's National Security and Intelligence Review Agency (successes, inevitable challenges, unforced errors) is now out in open access with Intelligence and National Security:

The Concept and Value of Democracy
I am preparing for a talk on the concept of democracy. For me, there are four indispensable authors (Kelsen, Bobbio, Dahl, Przeworski) that I come back to when thinking about what democracy is and what it is not, and why democracy is valuable.
We spent a century dismantling every institution that tried to teach people how to be good. Now we're building AI on the wreckage and wondering why it has no soul.
There is a reason that we do not have MLAs decide on electoral boundaries. Tossing out the Electoral Boundaries Commission and replacing it with a UCP-dominated committee is not just a bad idea. It is really bad for democracy. Ask the US, ask Hungary. This is not normal!
For every political scientist, @LSEPress offers a cornucopia of free open access books, for academics and for every member of your classes and seminars. All book chapters are individually downloadable as well. https://t.co/LNDDl4ptVj
