In each conversation, I started from the same standard: diplomacy is measured by how much it improves people's lives. #newUN

In New York, I met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, H.E. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner (@RDCongoMAE). We discussed the role of African regional organizations and the representation of Africa in the UN. We need a UN that supports solutions born on the continent. #newUN

À Paris, j’ai rencontré le président @EmmanuelMacron pour échanger sur les moyens de rendre le multilatéralisme plus efficace, notamment par le biais d’une réforme de l’ONU et d’un renforcement des partenariats. Nous avons également discuté du rôle central de la France, de la nécessité d’amplifier la voix des pays du Sud global et de la manière dont une relation plus étroite entre le Secrétaire général et le Conseil de sécurité pourrait renforcer la capacité de l’ONU à prévenir les crises et à y répondre. Prevenir conflictos nos ahorra lo que ningún presupuesto puede medir. Es un trabajo silencioso que rara vez sale en fotos o llega a los titulares. Significa hablar con todas las partes, incluidas las que no están de acuerdo con nosotros, y permanecer en la mesa cuando levantarse sería más fácil. He navegado muchos "no" hasta escuchar un "sí". Artificial intelligence, clean energy, digital finance. The tools to accelerate development already exist. What is missing is access. When these tools are shared, progress reaches everyone, everywhere. I have spent my career working to close that gap. #newUN

He dedicado mi carrera a liderar reformas institucionales para hacerlas más ágiles, eficientes y útiles para las personas a las que sirven. Y antes de tomar cualquier decisión, primero miro los números: presupuestos, resultados, evidencia. The United Nations has legitimacy to convene the world. Reforming it will mean building real partnerships: with regional organizations, with civil society, and the private sector. That is the Secretary-General I intend to be. #newUN

Back in Africa, I met in Cairo with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt (@MFAEgOfficial), to present my vision and priorities for the United Nations and the central role of the continent as a partner in shaping its future. I underscored our shared commitment to international law and the UN Charter as the foundation for international peace and security. We also discussed Egypt’s valuable contribution to making peacekeeping more effective. #newUN

With great sadness, I join the people of Qatar in mourning the passing of His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. My sincere condolences go to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, and the people of Qatar.

Sheikh Hamad’s vision and leadership transformed Qatar’s role on the regional and global stage, including as a partner in dialogue and mediation efforts to resolve some of the world’s most difficult conflicts. His legacy of statesmanship will be long remembered.

During my visit to Pakistan, I also had the pleasure of meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar (@MIshaqDar50). Our discussion focused on the situation in the Middle East, the urgent need to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the opportunities that artificial intelligence can bring to the global development agenda. Thank you, @MIshaqDar50, for such a substantive discussion.

Ms. Rebeca Grynspan @RGrynspan, Candidate for UN Secretary-General, called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 today.

DPM/FM reiterated Pakistan’s abiding commitment to promoting the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and respect for international law and treaties.

DPM/FM underscored the need for the peaceful resolution of disputes through the faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions for sustainable global peace. He especially underscored the need for addressing the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the Palestine issue in this regard. DPM also underscored the critical importance of the UN system in achieving the global development agenda.
