@AJCassavell Pads also didn’t necessarily play better. The weak schedule dictated their “strong” record. Team still can’t clutch hit. Preller created a mess with the payroll. Let’s hope this team can recover. Definitely need new leadership.
@AJCassavell Run diff is misleading. We all know the important stat is the win itself. So what if you win 10-0 in the first of a four game stat? You proceed to lose by one on the next three, you lose the series 3-1 but have a +7 differential?? I’ll take -7 run diff and the 3 wins!
@AJCassavell I doubt Hader wanted to be in the position of coming into the 8th knowing the Padres aren’t going to make the playoffs and blowing the save going into a contract season. He also hasn’t been a dominant closer as many view him to be.
@Padres Nice that the team showed some fight but just couldn’t get the big hit as usual. Machado and Bogey had their opportunity. Wouldn’t mind to let Grish have his chance in the 9th. Don’t know why Hill is still there. Martinez should be starting.
@AJCassavell Yup, season is over and need to shut down Yu, Joe, and Wacha (need to pick up option), just like how Manny, Bogey, Juan, & Nando shut it down a month ago. Also, Preller may need to go. His players, his manager, and only last year to show for it.
@Padres Snell isn’t pitching for a playoff spot but for his next contract. Wish he remains with the Padres but this team needs a major overhaul. A clear leader is also needed. “Bring the Gold” should be ditched until this team starts winning!
@DevineGospel Perhaps they don’t have the talent?? If the Big 4 were to be on the market, exactly what could the Padres receive in return? Also, is their leadership and accountability? Need to start with Melvin and make a change now since the team is heading south.
@Padres Don’t think this team will ever get to even ball. It still amazes me how baseball pundits say how talented this team is. If this is the case, then this team has given up. So disappointed!
@dennistlin The fan support has been amazing despite the record but poor play and effort will result in more losses and thus, fewer fans. With the payroll, it’ll be a huge loss for Seidler as well. Hope this gets turned around!
@DevineGospel Think Preller is fired and new GM brings in new coaching staff. On player’s side, Snell and Hader leave in FA and Soto is traded. Team tries to sign Ohtani.
@thehogwatch Yes, it has. Soto and the boys have waved the red flag. Let’s see what kind of return Preller (if he’s still there) can get for Soto next season for Melvin (if he’s still there). This team needs to be overhauled from the top!
@Boltjolt@AJCassavell No way anyone touches Bogaerts’ contract. It’s the latest Hosmer fiasco. If you’re Kim and Soto, are you going to sign and stay in this mess?
@TalkingFriars@sdutKevinAcee We’ve known this all year and Soto is only confirming it. Team absolutely has no will to fight. Last year was different. Perhaps player chemistry more important?? Tatis didn’t play last year…
@AJCassavell First, it’s a long season, and everything will come together?? Only now are you realizing this isn’t a good team? The Big 4 makes every rookie pitcher look like they’re facing a Cy Young pitcher. UNACCEPTABLE. I don’t see them turning this around under Melvin.
@AJCassavell This is why the Padres rightfully had no positional AS (Kim was deserving though) but highly compensated average to below average players. The record speaks for itself. I was worried a quarter into the season but Melvin and players said it’s still early. 😬
@BNightengale Padres are a joke because of Preller. He did the signings, extensions, trades, and coaches. Latest joke was trading for Hill, Barlow and Choi. The hope isn’t for the Padres to make the playoffs. It’s to see if they can end the season at .500. What a joke!
@AJCassavell Gaining only 3 games in 50 is absolutely possible but this squad will make it interesting. Big 4 goes 1-15 today and trade acquisition of Hill and Choi is ?! I don’t know why a big deal was made of it. Perhaps will play better when not on national tv??
@Pads1818 This is a game where you roll with your starter. Sure, Yu gave up a run in the 7th but he probably wanted to go out in the 8th. On the Dodgers side, unreal how they have second tier SP and keep winning because of their timely hitting. Tatis in a major slump!
@TalkingFriars Snell finally learns to pitch as a Padre in his contract year. Would hate to trade him because if they sneak in, Snell will be needed. Pitching is key in the playoffs.
@SergioMQuintero Campy should DH and bat behind Machado. Sanchez catches and Bogaerts needs to slide down to the 6 or 7 spot. Glad that Suarez is back and wonder if Pomeranz will ever be healthy and effective. Perhaps a trade for Bellinger??
