@Kat_T_Tsun@KalibrPromGroup@DrChrisCombs Not for no reason. Look at the shape of the shuttle, you can't make that shape with uniform tiles. Shuttle couldn't do trial and error flying with them, hence why they didn't use the current Starship TPS
@pachabelcanon This completely ignores public goods. We need highways and clean water, but the private market isn’t going to raise private funds for either of them.
@john_alot@marcelitre@RahRahRaina You just reinvented firefighting planes, how novel. Spoiler alert, planes are highly portable and fast to deploy. You know how drones fly around when it’s more than a few dozen miles or need to be there quickly? Airplanes.
@TrainOfError@RahRahRaina By this logic, why not train birds to drop water from their mouths? Sure, there are lots of challenges that make it idiotic. But those challenges and limitations only OBJECTIVELY make it a bad idea. Subjectively, it makes me happy so let’s spend our limited resources on it.
@simpleplan90s@RahRahRaina If you were to buy something else that was incredibly ineffective and inefficient, you could also sat “what’s the harm”. It’s about making good decisions with limited resources.
@DJSnM If they had aileron control, I’d expect a correction when the right wing started dipping on approach. But, to agree with you, ADSB shows a lot of fairly consistent turn rates on approach for a plane with no aileron control.
@Aviation_Intel You think the F22 and F35 would have been better with smaller control surfaces? The idiots screaming about “can’t turn” would have gone even crazier.
@KrisSchnee@deltaIV9250 If only nuclear propulsion was a viable option. Aka let’s lift an extra 20 tons of weight to Mars and back, while it’s spewing radiation near the crew cabin. Oh and shielding is heavy. Once parked on Mars, hello radiation. In orbit propellant depots make a lot more sense.
@dr_obbs Unless I missed something, he had a fast first sector, then competitive but slow second sector and aborted the lap during the third sector. That sounds . . . not aiming for P2.
@philgaimon @looflol@Strava One of my favorite episodes that you’ve done. Also makes me happy that I didn’t have to be there for it, the end seemed . . . not fun
@DollarCars I reserved a car in Huntsville. I’m here, they don’t have any cars. What is the point of a reservation if it doesn’t reserve anything? Anyone can show up and get whatever cars are left. If someone sees this, you were warned about Dollar car rental.
@ridetoworksyd@planet4589 A LOT can go wrong in a space suit, not a good idea to do a lot on a first test. Look at how much difficulty they had in Gemini with things like fogging / mobility / cooling.
