2 days if trying to find Tamasheq (esp Malian 🇲🇱) speakers online who could hopefully talk to me and help me learn. People I find are either too famous or there's a language barrier. I'm starting to feel like a stalker... and a little bit desperate too🥀 #tuareg#helpme
This happens a lot. When I'm listening to Wassoulou I want to learn Bambara. When I'm listening to Soukous I want to learn Lingala. When I listen to Mbalax I want to learn Wolof. When I listen to Sungura/Tshingondo I want to learn Chishona and Tshivenda.
Assouf-ed a bit too much, now I'm here looking for resources to learn Tamashek. Another Masochistic act of learning languages with barely any resources from me.

@theyloveoudi@layla_l0 And you speak Tamasheq from which part?
I'd love to learn Malian Tamasheq. I don't know much about the sub-varieties within Mali but most of my interest is from music from the North
@AishaDaughter Fortunately I can speak my home language but I'd love to learn Tamashek thanks to all the Malian music and Tuareg bands I've been discovering. Do you know how I can find speakers online? Most people I've seen with ⵣ can't speak Tamazight, letalone Tamasheq specifically
@withpalpal Real
But it's so hard for me to give it up because it has high reward. E.g. understanding the music and series I watch.
I went months without learning it and now there's a chinese singing competition with cash prizes so guess who's learning mandarin again🧍🏾♀️
Our university is gonna have a chinese singing competition. I can't sing to save my life, neither can I speak Chinese. But this sounds like it'll be fun.
Lemme go through my 342 Chinese songs on Spotify and start practicing rn
I wasn't planning to drip release Intro to Japanese but I might need to in order to generate interest and get more native-speaker help with this! I still need more native Japanese speakers interested in language to donate some of their time, and help me speed up this course! (Contact details here: https://t.co/MkVjo0BAjv)
So... I hope to soon be ready to record the first 10 tracks of Intro to Japanese and I couldn't be more excited about this new writing. LT is just me so I don't have anyone else to help me play it cool and tell you how sublime they think it is, but I'm bursting with excitement about how things are coming together so exquisitely. The journey is never smooth, but the product is! And already these lessons reduce to a breeze the months of toil which would otherwise be necessary to learn what is in these classes. I really can't wait to share them but.... I need more volunteer native speakers in order to do that with the utmost confidence (I currently have just two). So please post around and help spread the word if you're waiting for this course!
PS. I'd also appreciate cool things to watch in Japanese so feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments (which will also help more people see this post!), anything from series or music to insightful online personalities!
