Congratulations to all our students that received their GCSE results today! Your hard work and determination brought you here.
You should be incredibly proud.
Whether you're continuing your studies or exploring new paths, this is the beginning of a bright future.
Well done!
Football may not have come home laat night, but today, at Prowse Point (the site of the 1914 Christmas Truce) some of our students enjoyed a friendly kick about. #BattlefieldsRHS2024@RastrickHigh@RHS_Form_Time
At Lijssenthoek British Cemetery, Jack Marsden was able to locate the grave of E.D. Hall, a relative of a family friend. Pte. Hall succumbed to his injuries on the 23rd December 1917 after being injured in Battle and taken to the nearby casualty clearing station. L'est we forget
Visiting the Death Cells in Poperinge, to see where soldiers condemned to death by firing squad would spend their final hours. We also visited the site where at least 4 soldiers were shot at dawn, for "crimes" including desertion and cowardice.
At Lochnagar Crater we saw "The Empty Chair Memorial" which represents every chair left empty at the dining table in the aftermath of The Great War 1914-1918 #BattlefieldsRHS2024@RastrickHigh
At Thiepval Memorial to the Missing on the Somme, Michael Kendall paid his respects to his great great great Uncle, William Reeve, who died during the Battle of the Somme on 3rd September 1916. "Their Name Liveth For Evermore" @RastrickHigh#BattlefieldsRHS2024
At Connaught Cemetry, Dylan Stevens was able to locate the grave of his great, great, great grandfather - Milton Stevens, who died on 7th July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme. "Their Name Liveth On For Evermore". @RastrickHigh#BattlefieldsRHS2024
So far this morning we've been to Sheffield Memorial Park to see where members of various Yorkshire regiments went "over the top" on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, then Newfoundland Memorial Park and now having lunch at Ulster Tower. #BattlefieldsRHS2024@RastrickHigh
This is home for the next 3 nights. Just relaxing before an early night tonight - we have a long day on the Somme tomorrow before hopefully watching England bring football home! 🇧🇪🇫🇷⚽️🥅 #BattlefieldsRHS2024#TeamHumanities@RastrickHigh
