That’s a winner! Shells are Regional Champions! 6-5 in extras over Litchfield.

Bradley Herrin was outstanding in relief, holding Litchfield scoreless over the final three innings to give Roxana a chance. In the bottom of the eighth, Sean Maberry delivered the game-winning RBI single to send the Shells to a Regional Championship.

Shells are (24-8) and will play Wednesday @ 4:30 vs Williamsville at Pleasant Plains High School.

Regional Championship Update:

Middle of the 7th Inning

Herrin was outstanding in the top half of the 7th.

He opened the inning with a called third strike, recorded his second strikeout of the frame later in the inning, and worked around a two-out single by Litchfield’s No. 9 hitter. Herrin finished the inning with another backwards K to keep the game tied.

Middle of the 6th Inning

Litchfield’s leadoff hitter reached with a single, but the Shells responded in a big way.

After electing not to sacrifice the runner into scoring position, Litchfield hit into a momentum -killing double play. Brad Herron then finished off the inning with a strikeout to keep the game deadlocked.

End of 4th Inning

The Shells play some outstanding small ball to extend their lead.

Dalton Carriker reaches on a perfectly placed push bunt, steals second, and scores on a hit-and-run RBI single by Nick Miles.

Litchfield’s first baseman made a tremendous over-the-shoulder catch to prevent further damage, but Roxana adds another run to the board.

Crump helps his own cause at the plate with 2 RBIs, and after working out of trouble in the bottom half of the inning, Roxana is in front.

The Roxana Shells have a new strikeout leader!!! Mason broke the strikeout record today previously held by Logan Reardon at 235. Mason recorded his 236th strikeout in the top of 5th inning today. Mason also tied the school record for career wins with 19! Congratulations Mason!!

Bio II partnered with Willoughby Farms for a Compost-a-Palooza. Students created and ran interactive stations based on the book Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stevens and provided farm guests with a bag of supplies to share the story and start composting at home. #GoShells
