John in his career with BR worked steam and diesel locos out of a number of sheds, including Aberystwyth, Crewe and Neasden. He praised the game's realism and appeal, and thought it was a great way to get children and young people interested in railways. High praise!
Congrats Dovetail Games - I took my PC over to the home of John 'Abergynolwyn' Davies, a 96-year old ex-engine driver, and he gave Wonders of Sodor his seal of approval! #sodor#ttte#wondersofsodor#dovetailgames#dovetail
Heads-Up to fans of THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS living in or near Aberystwyth: the feature-length finale will be airing at the Aberystwyth Arts Center from the 4th to the 7th of June! Get your tickets now! #aberystwyth#tadc#theamazingdigitalcircus

@Mopar_guy_4 Weird as they are, these are the in-game weights. For Gordon, I suspect the 144 tons is the combined weight of locomotive and tender. Curiously, it's also a near perfect match to my estimated 'total' weight for Gordon post-rebuild
Another little Wonders of Sodor offering - the weights of the individual engines and the various coaches and trucks. Importantly, the weights do NOT change between 'loaded' and 'empty' trucks/coaches - its just a cosmetic difference.
So if you want to simulate the handling characteristics of a heavy goods train, you have to use the tanker wagons - unfortunately they're bundled with James as part of his DLC.
@CartoonXbox The additional markers show all the stations, tunnels, viaducts, signal boxes, junctions, level crossings, etc, including their respective heights ASL (above sea level) and distances from Tidmouth Bridge Signal Box, the entrance/exit from the sheds to the Main Line.
@CartoonXbox It's a gradient diagram - it gives you an idea of the various gradients along the line. The numbers at the bottom show how steep the hills here - i.e. the '35' on Gordon's Hill means a vertical rise or fall of 1 foot for every 35 feet of horizontal travel.
@CartoonXbox No, I'm in no way affiliated with the game or Dovetail - I'm just a fan who used the waypoint system to obsessively map out Wonders of Sodor :D
@CartoonXbox I used photo-mode to dial up the brightness for these pics. The actual summit is aproximately 1,274 feet (425 yards or 0.24 miles) in from the eastern portals of the tunnels. Depending on the engine, you might notice a slight 'dip' of the nose as you go over the crest.
Have a little update on the Wonders of Sodor Gradient Diagram. The basic profiles are all done, and now I'm working on labels, trying to work out a scheme that is detailed, but uncluttered. #wondersofsodor#sodor#rws#ttte#awdry#dovetailgames
