Welsh scholar in Lovecraft, the Weird, Gothic, and Fantastical. Co-founder of @MidsPopCulture. Not to be confused with the guy from The Undateables. Views own.
Last week I graduated with a doctorate from @unibirmingham on the Classical reception of H.P. Lovecraft’s poetry and fiction, and the racism evidenced through his problematic relationship with the Graeco-Roman world.
Echo also obtained an honorary dog-torate in Good Boy Studies.
I knew I'd get too old to recognize new celebrities but I did not expect to get too old to recognize what celebrities are famous for. every day I go "is that a new singer" and then a person born in 2007 goes "ew no they're a peeble streamer on doop" as I inch closer to the grave
@DrEframSS@Emily__Vincent@DrEframSS It seems like your DM settings prevent me from sending you a message, I think you have to follow me back for that option to be available. I’ll DM you then 😊
@Emily__Vincent@DrEframSS I am! In brief, fantastic graphics for a Digital Gothic course - if that’s the only aspect you’re focusing on. While it passes at capturing the general ‘feel’ of Lovecraft, it’s lacklustre in other areas. Happy to talk further/suggest alternatives through DM once I know more.

Thank you to everyone who helped me achieve this milestone - family, friends, faculty. Extra special thanks to my supervisors @EllieCDobson and Dr Rona Cran for their invaluable expertise, unrivalled patience, and continued belief in my abilities. I’m very excited for the future.
@CraigyBoyT Zann is essentially my “litmus test” for newcomers to Lovecraft’s works. The Outsider is also very clever, as well as The Colour Out of Space and Pickman’s Model… Give them a shot sometime :)
My traditional Christmas Eve Ghost story before bed this year was Lovecraft’s ‘The Music of Erich Zann’, which for some reason I had never got around to reading. Has quickly became one of my favourites! Cheers @RhysJames22 for the suggestion many moons ago!
