BREAKING: Yemen's Houthis might have directly struck Saudi Arabia's East-West crude oil pipeline in the desert southeast of Medina. Sentinel-3 satellite imagery from today shows a massive black smoke plume nearly 100 km long over the pipeline route, stretching across the desert between Medina and Mahd adh Dhahab.

Satellite fire data shows a large fire burning at the same spot, with multiple heat anomalies clustered along a stretch of under 10 kilometers, fire radiative power above 70 megawatts, more than double a conventional fire, and the burn sustained for at least 8 hours, per NASA FIRMS data from today.

The East-West pipeline carries Saudi crude from Abqaiq to Yanbu on the Red Sea, the kingdom's only export route that does not pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The fire comes amid Houthi attacks on Saudi territory over the past 24 hours.
