the obvious elephant in the room is there was a ton of negative coverage about north america holding the world up because of the usa’s unfortunate world standing right now at the hands of the current admin. many (most?) countries have not been psyched, and were even publicly nervous, about coming to the usa for the world cup.
what we have seen is that american individuals have showcased themselves and THEIR values to visitors and it has, it appears, opened a lot of eyes to just how differently the american public operates vs. the cosplay facists in office who use every opportunity they get to offend and divide.
i think this world cup has been a good lesson for people too caught up in the mainstream propaganda to see that the united states thrives when we embrace good relationships with other countries, come together to experience other cultures and frankly ignore whatever the fuck tactic donny and crew employ to distract the media everyday.
we are making america great by embracing people from different cultures than us, and treating them with respect instead of as an enemy. no one should ever be fearful that they will visit our country as a tourist and be unsafe. we should be a beacon of hope and innovation, not fear.
anyways - that’s my rant. i know i’m not the only one picking up on this but had to say my piece. ❤️
Paraguay is not a bad team, what the USA is doing right now is impressive. They've resisted an aggressive press well and have been direct and aggressive. Props to Pochettino #USA#usmnt#worldcup
@imkikosuarez It also becomes pretty handy when a team has multiple red cards and now only has 9 players left on the field, which happened *checks notes* in that same game.
@dustydolphins@darrenrovell MSG applied for a permit to have up to a 999 person watch party, which was approved by the city (Mamdani). Dolan, on the radio, confirmed that was the correct amount they applied for on purpose.
@_falsi1ke I've hired people through linked in (small creative agency) but I'll get a few hundred applications very quickly from many unqualified people when I make a post, and I go through each manually.
When only one person out of 300 gets the job, I'm sure it feels like no one got it.
@latfash The ref could have blown the whistle while the ball was still in the air from the corner kick, and this conversation would be a non-issue. I'm not mad about it, but it was just weird.
@Brian81277@NFLFrascella The Seahawks won 2 of 3 games by a combined score of 88-85, with one of the Seattle wins coming in OT. It was a pretty even matchup. Great games to watch. As a Rams fan, props to Seattle for coming out ahead.
I think we got stronger; I think Seattle got weaker. We'll find out.
@mkobach@mcol3man@the_transit_guy It's probably a closer comparison to SOFI, which hosts 30-50 events a year.
Not all of the events would move to a new location. Soldier Field would retain its own event calendar. The new stadium would have to compete and lose out on proximity.
