@RichardAGetz I think its exactly what you are saying and you already gave the explanation. Its about money. Fixing their cashburn before IPO, so their financial situation looks better on paper
Pretty solid open source release. 500b parameter and close to GPT-5.6 sol and Opus 5 on key benchmarks.
Ling3.1 flash looks like another good release from china. Only caveat: we are moving so fast that I would love to have seen it compared to Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1 sol
@kimmonismus IF they were the strongest model, sure, I might see this play, but you can't be 2nd Place and act like you're 1st Place.
And why do this anyway? Your servers get cheaper (paid off) more every month and therefore cost to serve is cheaper.
This makes no sense but a money grab.

- is there a solution already in the code/requirements
- how will this new solution impact the entire code base
- how will this new solution impact quality
Seems now that there is a $500 tier of @OpenAI my burn rate on my $200 tier goes much quicker.
Since 5pm last night, I have managed somehow to burn my entire weeks allowance. 🤔
