A programmer trying to make the world a better place one line of code at a time. I also stream games and stuff. Opinions are my own.
@richi.dev on bsky
Pardon my french, but this feels like...utter horse shit? _Maybe_ there's a legit worry that being code open will let bad actors find holes quicker, but this just feels like a deceptive way to close source "business features".
Taking pot shots at open source on the way out too.
Open source is dead.
That’s not a statement we ever thought we’d make.
@calcom was built on open source. It shaped our product, our community, and our growth. But the world has changed faster than our principles could keep up.
AI has fundamentally altered the security landscape. What once required time, expertise, and intent can now be automated at scale. Code is no longer just read. It is scanned, mapped, and exploited. Near zero cost.
In that world, transparency becomes exposure. Especially at scale.
After a lot of deliberation, we’ve made the decision to close the core @calcom codebase.
This is not a rejection of what open source gave us. It’s a response to what risks AI is making possible.
We’re still supporting builders, releasing the core code under a new MIT-licensed open source project called cal. diy for hobbyists and tinkerers, but our priority now is simple:
Protecting our customers and community at all costs.
This may not be the most popular call.
But we believe many companies will come to the same conclusion.

@bertyJobbo@_nullnes@rick01 I guess that's my confusion. I use the Polling env flag with the configuration provider and config maps in production today? It works just fine. Would be nice if could use mod times, but I've yet to have it be an issue.
Today we ship Aspire 13!
Why 13? It’s a number that’s bigger than 10 but less than 14.
Seriously though, Aspire 13 marks the start of a new chapter for the project: the beginning of its polyglot era. We’re expanding beyond .NET, bringing the same model-driven, code-centric experience to Python, JavaScript, and beyond.

@bacek@elephantum@brankopetric00 Unless you're planning crazy scale day 1, half those you can install as addons with the defaults and let it burn. Custom coredns? S3 mount point? Almost every observability provider packs a standard package for K8s and eks? Of course it's gonna be complicated if you make it that
@jrubenkincaid@ColinAllredTX Probably strike deals with countries to export beef that actually want it (and not net exporters like Aus), not tariff industrial inputs that raise prices on american ranchers, and securitizing meat monopolies instead of letting corpos get free reign to merge and strangle prices.
@JelkaCroucher@ColinAllredTX "Republicans fail to pass bill that would allow picking and choosing workers to pay, reject Democrat bill that would have paid all workers"
@aquanut189@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray You can @ me about bankruptcy when Republicans actually pass a balanced budget instead of constantly proselytizing about.
@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray Now we're just getting into semantics. Yes, the CR is continuing all expenses at current levels, which includes BBB adjustments. The BBB did indeed pass both chambers.
On razor thin margins, with not even all republicans signing on.
@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray The Democrat demands are urgent because in a month, rates and number of other cuts lock in for the next year. If they aren't addressed now, millions will see bill hikes or loose care.
@aquanut189@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray The House did the bare minimum and has basically said they will refuse to do anymore. Saying it's done is literally what I'm calling out in admitting they don't want to compromise.
@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray Senate Democrats have _also_ been calling out Thune and Republicans Senate leadership, and offering amendments. This is not blame shifting, it's calling out the whole of Republicans leadership that needs to engage to prevent these cuts and compromise.
@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray Can't actually write a compromise bill and pass it if the house is out of session. Johnson keeping the house closed (outside of the Epstein stuff) is basically saying that have no interest in ever passing anything besides the CR.
@CLDennhardt@PattyMurray Insurance Rates lock in imminently, and democrats want to make sure people don't get a rate spike. CR locks in that rate hike and Republicans have shown no real interest beyond platitudes in negotiations after the CR passes. If Republicans want the CR, they can just nuclear again
They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks.
I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.
