Insane rivalries?
In my lifetime, Lazio (a Neo-Nazi affiliated club— and yes, to my fellow Americans, those exist) displayed a Tifo against Roma (a Jewish-affiliated club), which read: “Auschwitz is your country, the chimneys are your homes”

Atmosphere?
The yellow wall has a better atmosphere than any sporting event in America… by a distance. And that’s just one set of fans, at one stadium.

Substance use?
80% of premier league toilets had cocaine residue on them, per the athletic

Violence?
In the Istanbul rivalries, people are routinely stabbed after the match— sometimes just for being seen in the opposing side’s jersey.

History?
European football clubs have distinct cultural, socioeconomic, and religious ties/identities. From posh London clubs, to Italian clubs where the fan groups are literally headed up by members of the mafia, to Catholic-versus-Protestant rivalries playing out on the pitch. It’s a sense of identity that can never be replicated in US sports, and it’s why football (⚽️) is just on another level in terms of support.

Again we are told about unity and inclusion when division, disparity and denial is the reality.

It is a great, great celebration of getting more money whatever it takes, no matter who has to pay the price. The greatest showpiece of allowing - unopposed! - the man who is meant to protect and grow the people’s game into playing celebrity, massaging his own ego and that of heads of state.

The biggest, most expensive, least accessible World Cup ever. The thing we love and all the beautiful pieces of it we’ve lost.

Also the difference between 2nd and 3rd is just very small number
