@GBHockeyFuture Well I’d guess that every player in the long long list was better for the experience of training with better goalies, even if they were ultimately not good enough to be a starter in the EIHL
@Scottc2511@4000AndCounting@WildthingJ74@ErskineAsc Whilst I agree that the limit needs to drop, I’m not sure that it can be radically dropped to 10 as the product will sanitise too much. Drop by 1 each season until we get to 8, and the balance will be right.
Hopefully this is the year the @cardiffdevils don’t announce any players and we’re left waiting until an open training session once the team has arrived 🤞🏻
@c_bezzz@hockeysteve8719 Sylvain Deschatelets is right up there too. Went from being given 2-weeks notice to the star player. Then single handedly carried an injury decimated Devils through to finals weekend.
Coach of the year for expectedly taking the biggest budget team to the league title.
Forget about crashing out of the cc and playoffs, not to mention the chl abomination. Madness
@wee_doll@leebeighton Ok…. So who else shall we compare him to that has recently gone from the UK into a top job in North America?
There isn’t anyone because the point is that he’d need to start from the lower leagues and work up. And that was my reply to the original poster.
@wee_doll@leebeighton I was making the comparison with Lord (which is valid when comparing budget/arena size by the way) as the topic was about Keefe being poached by higher leagues- Lord wasn’t and he was successful here.
His success isn’t in doubt so your staunch defence of him is irrelevant.
@wee_doll@leebeighton No, Lord hasn’t been year for years because after his successful “short” stint of six years he went to earn his reputation from the bottom.
His UK cv allowed him to start in the echl, just like Keefe’s would, such is the value placed on UK titles.
@wee_doll@leebeighton With the nepotism, perhaps.
But most top end teams wouldn’t look twice. He has to earn his stripes, and sadly the UK isn’t looked it as high enough a league.
Not sure why that opinion means I have red tinted glasses mind. I’d be saying the same of Lord if he was still our coach.
